About us

Empathy is North Lincolnshire’s carer, family, friends and kinship support group.

We are a confidential, non judgemental service offering support and services for the families, friends and carers of substance misusers or anyone in the local community experiencing the effects of someone else’s drug or alcohol problem.

We started in 2007 when a group of family members came together in recognition of the lack of support for families affected by drug use, they came together and began to support one another.

Empathy is exactly what we are about, actively listening with the person and building trust so they feel safe to expose and explore their own needs and emotions.

We now run a weekly support group, and outreach befriending through which someone will visit you in your own home or at a suitable community venue. We also run workshops where family members can come together and learn more about substance misuse and addiction and how to cope better with the effects they have upon families.

We know that however difficult it may seem at this time to think about yourself and your own needs, having support from others can make an immense difference on how you cope with your problems.

Contacting us or coming for support for the first time can be very scary, please be assured that we are here to talk and listen whenever you need us.
